My first attempt at blogging so pardon any "mishaps"!!!!
Why a special educator? A question I have been asked many times. And my answer has remained the same for over 15 years..."why not a special educator?"
There are teachers gallore for children who can be categorised as "normal", "neurotypical", "regular" but hardly anyone for children who are "special". Ironical, isn't it? We call them special and treat them like wallpaper. Anyhow so here I am after almost 18 years since I started my journey towards reaching out to as many special angels I could...trying to ignite the same fire in the younger lot. The fire of wanting to make a difference to an individual, to a family, to a community, to a nation...Calling it a job or an occupation would be doing unjustice. It could be termed as a profession but I would call it a "way of life". Being a special educator ensures a constant connection with your inner self, your soul...what more can you ask for?
Did I hear someone say "moolah"? Ofcourse special educator are paid handsomely and have many opportunities to consult and freelance. So go follow your heart if its children that make you"tick"...reach out.

Hi Geet, You are a very special person, doing very special work, for very special young ones. Your enthusiasm is most special too :)
ReplyDeleteGeet, Love the initiative!! Congrats! Hope you spread even more awareness and achieve all the objectives you've always had!
ReplyDeleteBeing a special educator is putting your money where your mouth is.. its a way of saying .. potential exists.. I'm going to show you some ways how to access it..
about the money... hmmmmmmmm.. i'm not sure its a moolah maker necessarily unless you marry it with enterprise!
Love

Really admire your efforts and all these initiatives. A Sp.Educator to me is so called coz of the special ways of connecting to her students as many of them are not able to express themselves the way most children/adults can. The moment u have been wired to their thoughts you have crossed the major hurdle.

we call them special and treat them like wallpaper...that rings so true. Even adults with decent intentions are afraid to connect because it can make us realise how limited our own abilities are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for starting this, Geet, its great to hear your voice. Time to make a bigger change, and spread the laughter!
